Sausage - Apple Quiche
I know! I know! Real men don't eat Quiche... Well, let me tell you that real men DO eat Quiche.. when it's manly! There are several of these "egg pies" that my guys can't get enough of. Here's one of their favorites.
1 (9") pie crust, unbaked
1/2 pound bulk sausage (or link)
1 Apple, peeled and Sliced
1 cup Shredded Cheddar
1 1/2 Cups Half and Half
1 TB Sugar
1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
1/4 tsp Salt
1/8 tsp Pepper
Brown Sausage, drain. Peel and thin slice apple. Layer apple, sausage and cheese in pie shell.
Whisk eggs, half and half, sugar, Red Pepper flakes and salt and pepper. Pour over sausage and apple in pie shell.
Bake at 425 degrees F for 20 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 and bake another 40-50 minutes until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand 5-10 minutes before cutting. Refrigerate leftovers.
